The Preserve

Old as time, the land we now refer to as The Meadow is five acres of gently sloping hillside.  From the preserve you can behold the Blue Ridge Mountains to the East and the Alleghenies to the West. The hillside itself is partly wooded, partly open. Both habitats are home to a variety of flora and fauna, as well as the scarcely visible gravesites of our beloveds.

In the shady woods, you can smell the fresh pines, tread across the soft earth, hear the tall trees swaying in the wind,  the forest all around you slowly cycling through the chapters of life, death, and renewal.  The meadow, meanwhile, basks in the sun. In summer, a bounty of wildflowers bloom, bringing the butterflies and tree swallows, and children. The woods, meadow, and places in between – they welcome us all.
